Total item-count rules
Use a minimum item count when an order needs several items, or a maximum to set a per-cart ceiling. Total item count concerns quantities in the cart, rather than simply counting product lines.

Set total item-count limits or selected-product quantity limits, with selected-product quantities aggregated across variants.
Limits for selected products
Set minimum or maximum quantities for particular products. A product’s quantities are combined across variants, so different sizes or colors contribute to the same product total.
Useful for limited items and sample products
A per-cart maximum can support a policy for limited items or samples. It is a limit on that cart, not an identity-based restriction across repeat orders.
Check mixed carts and product absence
Test the selected product on its own and with other products. Include multiple variants. A minimum for a selected product should be checked when that product is present; it is not a requirement to add that product to every order.
